M/s Sardar & Sardar, Development & Management Consultants were selected to carry out this study. Study on Tourism Potential of FATA has been completed and distributed amongst all stakeholders.


A comprehensive list of potential tourist sites has been prepared. Following are some important Sites from the Study Findings:

1. In Khyber Agency, there were eleven potential tourism sites that were identified during the study. These included Bab-e-Khyber, Jamrud Fort, Shagai Fort, Ali Masjid, Landi Kotal Bazaar, Michni Post, Torkham Border, Tirah Valley, Bara Spera Dam, Shalman Area and Steam Safari Train.
2. In Kurram Agency, the identified potential tourism sites are Parachinar, Kirman, Zairan, Shalozan, Khar Lachi Fort, Chapri, Terimengal and Koh-e-Sufaid.
3. In South Waziristan Agency, the potential sites include Makeen, Ladha, Kaniguram, Peerghar, Wana, Jandola (FR Tank), Shaktui and Sararogha.
4. In North Waziristan Agency, the potential sites include Razmak, Miranshah, Shawal, Valley, Datta Khel, Gurmeek (Beermal) and Ghulam Khan.
5. In Orakzai Agency, important tourists’ sites were Kalaya, Samana, Gulistan Fort, Feroz Khel, Zaira, Landok, Manawar and Khalwat.
6. In Mohmand Agency, the potential tourism sites include Michni, Grave of Haji Torangzai (Ghaziabad), Ghalanai, Khawazai, Chamar Kand, Yakkaaund and Mander Dam.
7. In Bajaur Agency, the important sites that possess potential for attracting tourist traffic are Charmang, Khar, Mamond, Salarzo, Sikandro, Nawa Pass, Shakai Pass, Grave of Memona (Sher Alam), Chamar Kand, Nawagai and A Rang ba rang.
8. In Frontier Regions, four sites were identified as the potential sites; included Darra Adam Khel in FR Kohat, Kurram Tangi Dam in FR Bannu, Takhte Sulaiman and Darazinda in FR D. I. Khan.
